Welcome to the Mid-West Regional Skills Homepage
'Regions have the capacity of providing something for everybody, only because and only when they are created by everybody' Jacobs (1961). The underlying strenght of the Mid West Region is built upon a spirit of partnership and collaboration which is reflected in the work of the Regional Skills Forum. The forum is comprised of education and training providers working together with industry and enterprise to identify and address current and future skills needs within the Mid West region.
'We are now living in an era of change and new ideas and education must move with the times it is meant to serve' Donogh O'Malley, Minister for Education (1966). According to a 2017 report by Accenture 65% of today's primary school children may be working in jobs not yet created'. If we are to succeed in matching talent with the skills required then our challenge is to understand the specific needs of industry today and into the future.
