Revealing the true extent of the talent and skills available in the Mid West; 5,300 more people in the Mid West have entered employment in the past year while the Mid West has also seen increases in its Labour Force (addition of 1,700 people) and Participation Rates (up 0.9 %).
Latest data from the CSO QNHS Q1, 2016 finds that the region is the second fastest growing region in terms of employment in the year to Q1 2016 (after Dublin), up 3.6% and ahead of the national average growth rate of 2.4%.
The Unemployment Rate in the Mid West has declined by 2.3% since Q1 2015; and by 0.6% since end 2015. At 7.9%, the Mid West’s Unemployment Rate is currently 0.5% below the State average (8.4%).
