Major Shortage of Courses in Key Occupational Roles
An audit of courses and programmes provided at both Further and Higher Education level to meet skills needs within the Hospitality sector has identified significant shortages in core skill areas. The report commissioned by SOLAS and the HEA examined all courses classified within the Hospitality industry and delivered either on a full or part time basis.
The findings of the audit indicate significant disparities between the number of courses offered per occupational role versus projected employment demand. Job roles most in demand include Bar Staff, Waiting Staff, Restaurant Managers, Kitchen and catering Assistants. The full report can be accessed by clicking here
