Human Capital Initiative 2020

The Human Capital Initiative (HCI) will deliver an investment targeted towards increasing capacity in higher education in skills-focused programmes designed to meet priority skills needs. As job roles continue to change new skills are required by employees but equally new methods of learning and upskilling are needed to facilitate greater levels of workforce upskilling.

The primary objectives are to increase provision in areas of identified skills need, Future proof graduates with industry relevant skills for emerging technologies
Ensure that there is a greater focus across the whole spectrum of higher education course provision on promoting and embedding transversal skills and Incentivise continued reform and innovation in higher education provision building on best practice available nationally and internationally.

An industry briefing facilitated by the MidWest Regional Skills Fora will take place on Thursday 16th January at 8am in Engine Building, Upper cecil Street, Limerick whereby both University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology will outline some priority areas being considered in terms of addressing future skill needs of industry.
