Event for Donegal Employers
As part of Local Enterprise Week, the North West Regional Skills Forum in conjunction with Local Enterprise Office, Donegal hosted an information evening for Donegal employers wishing to learn more about the various funding, support and services available to Donegal employers from local education & training providers and other agencies. This event was held in the Letterkenny Institute of Technology on Thursday March 8th.
This “one-stop-shop” event heard presentations from Donegal ETB and Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) describing the numerous services available to employers in relation to funding, work based learning for existing employees, recruitment of graduates, apprenticeships, traineeships, research & innovation, support for new start-ups and much more. LEO Donegal provided an overview of the wide range of services they have available to employers. Presentations were also delivered by Skillnets who provide significant funding for flexible education and training programmes for employers and employees in a wide range of areas including management, retail, tourism & hospitality, manufacturing, health and safety, digital marketing and technology.
Representatives from numerous other employer organisations and agencies including Ibec, Enterprise Ireland, Intreo Údarás na Gaeltachta, Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce, Western Development Commission, Donegal Local Development Company and Inishowen Partnership were also in attendance to speak to employers and employees.
Almost 50 local employers attended this event. The feedback from the employers and organisations that presented has been extremely positive and the RSF Manager in the North West, Dr. Oran Doherty stated he intends running this event on an annual basis in each of the three counties in his region – Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim.
