Ministers welcome OECD Education at a Glance report

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Innovation, Research and Science Simon Harris and Minister of State Niall Collins have today welcomed the OECD report Education at a Glance, which showed the number of young people in Ireland attending third-level education is significantly above the OECD average.

Ireland ranked 4th in the table of 38 countries, with 58 per cent of people aged between 25 and 34 progressing to third-level education, compared to a 45 per cent OECD average.

The study also found that the number of adults (aged 25-64) in Ireland furthering their education at a tertiary level stands at 50 per cent, compared to an OECD average of 40 per cent. The top three ranked countries are Canada, Luxembourg.
