Our Pharma and Biopharma Work

The Forum held its inaugural Pharma/Biopharma Skills Requirements Planning round-table in Spring 2017 where 20+ Cork/Kerry companies agreed a priority action plan for their sector to address key priorities for growth.  Initial work focused on solutions to address the validation skills challenges and following our Q4 2019 round-table, new skills development initiatives are developed in process safety & data analytics.

Addressing the Validation Skills Challenge

The work of the Forum’s Industry/Education validation skills group was short-listed under the Education & Training Category of the 2019 Pharma Awards.  Initially identified as a priority at our inaugural 2017 round-table, ten companies have worked with UCC, MTU Cork & MTU Kerry to develop & deliver new undergraduate modules & a CPD Level 7 Certificate courses in Validation Science to address identified needs. Over 200 CPD learners have now availed of the 90% Springboard funded upskilling course & both modules have being delivered as part of UCC/TU undergraduate programmes.  The 2021 validation science programmes will run in UCC, MTU Cork & MTU Kerry, all with 90% Springboard+ funding

Data Analytics & Process Safety

Following our Q4 Skills Requirements Planning round-table, two new industry/education skills action groups were established to work with education & training providers in building solutions to skills requirements in process safety and data analytics. The inaugural skills needs scoping sessions for both Industry SME groups took place in February 2020 with 20+ companies who mapped existing and required skills capabilities, sharing insights with UCC, MTU Cork & MTU Kerry . Two new programmes are now running
