2022 Schools and Centres Competition

23 February 2022

2022 Schools and Centres Competition

Generation Apprenticeship in second level schools and centres is an annual competition that engages learners in the expanding world of apprenticeship and demonstrates how they can combine future careers with their commitment to green values.

Organised this year by the National Apprenticeship Office with support from Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris TD, this year's competition invites learners to help shape what is valued within 21st century industries in Ireland. We have an industry-led judging panel who are ready to listen and who welcome new voices.

This is a pivotal period as we recover from the pandemic and enter a new phase of apprenticeship expansion. We'd like to ensure that we hear from second level learners in your regional area. Entry to the competition is free and the closing date for entries is Friday 6 May 2022.

Being part of the competition provides students with practical knowledge as well as the opportunity to share their ideas with a national audience and to compete for a cash prize of €1,000, the last bit always of extra interest to teenagers..!

Following last year's success, the 2022 competition will follow a similar format. We are asking learners to create an A letter that can be used to replace the A in CAO and to promote how users can access information on apprenticeship options via the CAO website. The A which is created by competition entrants can take a physical (category 1) or a virtual form (category 2).

The winning entrants will be featured in an outdoor poster and advertising campaign later this year which promotes all of the apprenticeship opportunities now available and the important role future careers will play in tackling climate change.

This generation of learners already know their role in leading change in the world of work. The competition is an opportunity for wider society to hear their voices and to be the champions of their stories.

To ensure this year's cohort of entries are more regionally inclusive we would like to encourage tutors, teachers and learners in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon to enter the competition.
