National Sales Apprenticeship - Employer Briefing

10 August 2020

Tuesday 18th August at 2.00 pm.

Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) and a consortia of sales industry partners are commencing the roll out of the National Sales Apprenticeship on Monday 14th September 2020. The programme runs over two years and upon successful completion leads to a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Sales. Holders of this award can progress both in their workplace and into Higher Education.

The attached LINK  will bring you to a short video, an Employer Guide and an apprentice information booklet. All of these will provide information pertaining to the structure and content of the programme. 84% of the programme will be covered in the workplace - the everyday duties involved in the roll in Universal Graphics will be as normal but there will be workplace tasks set which s/he needs to complete per module (we run our modules consecutively)  The remaining 16% of the programme will be delivered via online classes and face to face workshops and the apprentice will need to be released from the workplace for these classes.

As a response to Covid19, we are delivering the programme purely online from September 2020 to at least January 2021. Further to the relevant guidelines, we may be reverting to a combination of online learning and face to face workshops which will be delivered in the Mayo/Sligo/Leitrim region. However these workshops will be limited to 2-3 days per month. The online classes from September will commence on the 14th with a 2 week induction of 2 -3 hours per day for 2 weeks (mandatory) and then from 28th September classes will be delivered for 4 hours per week - 10am - 12 midday on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will be abiding my all guidelines set by both the HSE and QQI.

Employers are required to appoint a Workplace Mentor to coach and mentor the apprentice for the duration of the programme. MSLETB provide training for that role and also will support the mentor throughout the 2 years. We have a training workshop scheduled for mentors on 8th September for the new intake of apprentices.

We have our next online Employers Briefing scheduled for 2pm on Tuesday 18th August should you or your colleagues wish to attend to hear further details about the programme. Feel free to register at https://lnkd.in/eepsiud

The government has last week provided has introduced an apprenticeship stimulus scheme - €3,000 for employers for each apprentice hired (€2,000 upon registration and €1,000 if they progress to Year 2)

If you would like to complete an expression of interest form, feel free to do so at this link https://www.apprenticeshipjobs.ie/#/employer/register   A SOLAS representative would then contact you and explain the statutory process involved in becoming registered on the programme.
