Official Launch of the National Apprenticeship in Arboriculture

30 August 2021

The Official Launch of the National Apprenticeship in Arboriculture took place on Friday, 9th July, 2021 in Petersburg Outdoor Education and Training Centre.

The apprenticeship is a direct response to an identified skill gap by Arboriculture companies in Ireland. Employers have an ongoing need for highly skilled, qualified, arborists to respond to the ever-changing demands of the industry as well as climate change. GRETB, in partnership with the industry, developed this national apprenticeship to provide high quality training in this niche area. It is underpinned by national standards and regulations.

This exciting apprenticeship will create a pathway and provide formal qualifications for those wishing to pursue a career in this area. This is a two-year apprenticeship, combining on-and-off-the-job training, with an emphasis on health and safety, tree biology, cultivation and conservation.
